Greenwich Village’s one of the oldest music cafes, the 31 year old Caffe Vivaldi is the home for Schubertiades New York City. Produced by pianist Emir Gamsizoglu and actress Ege Maltepe, aptly naming their collaboration as “Classical4all”, Schubertiades NYC brings back the romantic period tradition of informal musical gatherings.
Every sunday afternoon Schubertiades present opera singers and chamber musicians playing Schubert art songs and chamber music in Caffe Vivaldi's intimate atmosphere. Starting from June 1st with baritone Stan Lacy singing one of Schubert’s most famous song cycles; “Schwanengesang” Classical4all starts its summer season. Following programs include Schumann's Birthday Party (A cello & piano recital) and Environment Awareness Concerts with sopranos Megan Hafer and Jessi Goebel. All concerts are performed for a suggested donation supporting the artists, just like Franz Schubert’s gatherings with his circle of friends.
Caffe Vivaldi is located on 32 Jones Street between Bleecker and West 4th. Vivaldi is offering a delicately crafted lunch/brunch menu during these gatherings.
